ICF’s Transmission Planning group is a specialized team supporting utilities, RTOs, and developers with transmission planning, interconnection analysis, and grid modernization studies directly relevant to SATA applications. The team maintains active licenses for industry‑standard tools including PSS®E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PROMOD, and PowerGEM TARA, enabling robust AC power flow, contingency, transfer limit, and production cost analyses for large and complex power systems. ICF’s staff includes engineers registered as Professional Engineers (PEs) and professionals with NERC‑related certifications, ensuring analyses meet utility, ISO, and regulatory standards. The team has recent project experience across PJM, CAISO, SPP, ERCOT, MISO, and WECC, with deep familiarity with regional planning criteria, tariffs, and interconnection procedures. In addition, ICF’s subject‑matter experts are highly proficient in Python and R, enabling automation of contingency analysis, system impact studies, network upgrade cost estimation, and results compilation, which allows studies to scale efficiently for large systems.
