The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) State and Community Energy Programs Office has announced a forthcoming funding opportunity of up to $100 million to support both Regional Hubs and local education agencies (LEAs) with the objective of helping public school districts reduce facility operating costs, improve the reliability of essential building systems, and develop financeable improvement plans that maximize public and private investments.
DOE anticipates selecting four to eight Regional Hubs, each of which will train school facility staff, coordinate technical providers, and provide districts with tools and data they can continue to use. Regional Hubs will be best suited to serve the unique needs of nearby school districts and may consist of coalitions of several types of organizations, including but not limited to:
Interested organizations can express interest in being part of a Regional Hub and join the Teaming Partner List[1] to connect with potential partners. Regional Hub applicants should be able to demonstrate regional reach, proven engineering and project-development capabilities, sound financial and risk controls, and the capacity to serve school districts across diverse technical and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Local education agencies (LEAs) interested in receiving assistance from Regional Hubs should sign up via the link below.
